Path of Exile 3.29 is in that awkward quiet spell where everyone's got a theory and nobody's got patch notes. GGG has confirmed the July 16 reveal and the July 24 launch, but that's about it. No manifesto, no passive tree file, no ascendancy preview. So if you're planning early, you're really planning around habits GGG has shown before. Players are already watching build prices, starter safety, and POE Currency demand, because one manifesto line can flip the whole first-week economy.
Passive Tree Pressure Points
Where nerfs feel most likely
The biggest red flags are still projectile scaling, flask power, and poison efficiency. It's not hard to see why. Deadeye bow builds keep showing up early because they clear fast, gear smoothly, and don't need much hand-holding. Pathfinder has a similar problem from the other side. Flasks cover damage, defence, sustain, and uptime all at once. Poison then stacks cleanly on top of that, which makes the package feel a bit too neat. If GGG wants to slow the safest early farmers, these are the places most players will check first.
Projectile wheels may lose some damage or require more travel.
Flask masteries could see weaker effect or duration values.
Poison clusters may get lower duration or chaos damage over time scaling.
Melee May Get Another Push
Bleed and strike skills are overdue for help
If there's a positive side to all this guessing, it's melee. GGG keeps circling back to it, and 3.29 could be another swing at making close-range builds feel less punishing. Axe clusters are easy candidates because they already sit near several attack and bleed routes. Bleed itself has been quiet for a long while, outside of a few loyal Gladiator players trying to make it work. Strike skills need help too. Not just more damage, either. They need smoother targeting, better extra-target access, and less clunky mapping without forcing awkward gem or glove choices.
Ascendancies To Watch
Deadeye and Pathfinder look exposed
Deadeye is probably the class people are most nervous about. It's fast, simple to scale, and has ruled too many league-start conversations. A small hit to chain, projectile count, or tailwind-style speed can change how it feels without killing it. Pathfinder is a different case. It's strong because the whole setup feeds itself. Flask uptime supports defence, poison, recovery, and bossing. On the buff side, Gladiator has the loudest case. A block and bleed refresh would make sense. Chieftain could also use a cleaner identity, especially around fire damage and defence.
Atlas And League Start Planning
Safe choices matter before the tree is public
The Atlas tree may shift as much as the character tree, maybe more. Expedition and Ritual feel like reasonable buff targets because both can keep players engaged if rewards are tuned well. Harvest might get a smaller lift, while Legion and Delirium probably depend on how GGG wants mapping pace to feel. For league starters, I'd be careful with anything that needs untouched projectile or poison numbers. Trickster hybrid builds, Hierophant mana setups, Necromancer minions, and Slayer attacks look easier to trust before real data lands. Gladiator bleed is tempting, but it's still a bet until we see the notes.
Market Timing Before Patch Notes
Don't lock yourself into one fragile idea
The smart move is to sketch two or three starters, not one perfect plan. Keep one safe option, one fun option, and one build that only works if buffs land. Around manifesto week, item chatter and trade behaviour always get weird, so players who buy POE 1 Currency or prepare early should still avoid assuming that today's favourite build survives untouched. Wait for the passive tree data, check Path of Building updates, then commit when the numbers stop moving.
